ABOUT JAN

I Believe Success is Not an Accident; It is a Habit

EXPERIENCE

I began my career with the Port Townsend Windermere Office in 1998 after 14 years in the financial industry. In 2005 my effectiveness allowed me to purchase the office with a partner where I worked as a broker/owner for eleven years. In 2016, my husband and I sold our half of the business giving me the opportunity to get back to what I love, helping buyers and sellers!

FAMILY & COMMUNITY RELATIONSHIPS

I was born and raised in northwest Washington and have lived on the southeast end of Marrowstone Island overlooking Admiralty Inlet since 1986. I am passionate about my real estate career as a broker and but equally enthusiastic about the many wonderful aspects of living on this part of the Olympic Peninsula. Both of my daughters attended the Chimacum Schools and have successfully completed their undergraduate college degrees. My husband taught in the Quilcene School District for 20 years, substituted in the Chimacum Schools, and coached in the Port Townsend School District. We also continue to be involved in an assortment of community activities. One of my devoted interests is Jumping Mouse Children’s Center (a valuable community resource serving children and their families who have experienced severe physical or emotional distress), where I served on the board of directors from 2010-2017.

I am also pleased to say my youngest daughter, Robyn and her husband have invested themselves in Port Townsend and Robyn has partnered with me as a licensed real estate agent. Robyn grew up in our community and the local real estate industry.  As part of the younger generation of brokers, Robyn brings a unique set of communication and technological skills to our team.

PROFESSIONAL & PERSONAL QUALITIES

I have represented buyers and sellers in property transactions with all of the major brokerages and most of the agents in east Jefferson County. At the conclusion of a transaction our office requests written feedback from customers. They have characterized me as “professional and hardworking”, “efficient but easy going”, “persistent and more patient than we were”, “smooth and pleasant”, “Jan went the extra mile without our needing to ask it of her”, and Jan is a person who “approaches problems with a cheerful let’s get the job done attitude”. I believe I am effective because I work hard for all of my customers and the true measure of this is that they return when they’re ready to buy or sell again.

MARKETPLACE EXCELLENCE

Windermere has been named one of the top privately held companies in Washington. The innovative services, powerful technology, and on-going educational programs provided by Windermere Services diligently support every agent in each local office. In an independent survey by the Puget Sound Business Journal, Windermere was identified as the most respected Washington brand in the real estate category. Windermere was selected by 58% of the respondents while our closest competitor received 16% of the vote. I’m extremely proud to be an active Windermere broker (24 years) and former Windermere office owner (11 years). I am also pleased to say that the NWMLS reports that out of all agents who recorded sales in Jefferson County during the last 5 years I have consistently ranked as one of the top five brokers in both sales volume and number of units sold.

I believe this job is the greatest because I adore working with people. I will give you my best effort as we move through the marketing process. Whether it is formulating our marketing or buying strategy, negotiating or closing the deal, I hope to earn your highest regards during the entire transaction. It is also my hope that all my clients recognize my commitment to them and that they consider me for their future real estate business, or when making a recommendation to a family member, friend, or coworker.

"She is the best that we could have hoped for, a rare and valuable part of the Windermere team- congratulations!"

"Jan demonstrates a kind of dedication and professionalism that is a rare commodity these days.  Throughout our search for a home, she repeatedly demonstrated extraordinary knowledge about construction, financing, and every aspect of real estate investment.  But most important, Jan was more interested in making sure we got the right home for us than simply making a sale.  We’re happy to recommend her."

-Terry & Jessica Knight

"We recently sold our home in Port Hadlock thanks to the professional expertise of our Broker, Jan Garing. She worked diligently with us to be sure the information about our property was presented in an appealing , substantive way so that potential buyers were encouraged to schedule a showing. When the offer came Jan negotiated on our behalf to get us the most lucrative amount and worked through the logistics of closing. Jan was in our corner from the moment she signed the listing. I strongly recommend her for any real estate transaction."
